Sir Alec Issigonis' Mini was launched on 26th August 1959. Originally sketched out on the backs of envelopes and tablecloths, its revolutionary design changed the face of the car industry forever. Winning the prestigious Monte Carlo rally three times, Mini set the pace throughout the sixties both as a race car and as a radical fashion statement.
40 years on, Mini mania is still going strong and the car has become a legend in its own lifetime. Mini is celebrating this great birthday by launching a special edition Mini ΓÇö The Mini 40th and by holding the mother of all parties at Silverstone.
